Volunteer Spotlight: Kris DiPaola,
Salesforce Superstar
Kris is a superstar. For her, talking about databases and software is both invigorating and philosophical. That’s why Lift UP is especially grateful to have her expertise and energy focused on rebuilding our indispensable Salesforce platform. Lift UP depends on Salesforce to track our clients, volunteers, donors, supplies, suppliers and operations - critical systems for all businesses, including small nonprofits.
What started as an informal chat about Lift UP systems after a volunteer shift with her Berkeley Alumni Group turned into a complete “down to the studs” rebuild of the system that has taken more than one year.
“I’m proud of doing it the right way. We didn't just do the minimum to squeeze out baseline functionality. We took the time to rebuild it so Lift UP is now poised to benefit from all of the resources available through the Salesforce platform,” Kris shared.
For Kris, the best part of volunteering for Lift UP has been “contributing to resilience in my community that supports us all.” Plus, she genuinely geeks out on the work (bless her).
Kris is both inspired and fueled by the compassion and strength of the community she is experiencing as result of the pandemic. “Everyone is seeking out ways to help right now. They want to contribute and support others. Instead of dwelling on what’s wrong, how about we build what’s right?”
Now that we have a dynamic platform, Kris is working with Jasna Vukovitch - a developer based in New York City, Helene Emerson - our dedicated Easter Seals volunteer, and Kris's mother, a retired systems analyst and programmer based in the Los Angeles are to courageously develop an app for Lift UP’s Delivered Food Box program. We've got quite a team on this project!
For a relatively small nonprofit, having this level expertise and commitment is game-changing. Kris’s expertise has allowed us to reach even more people, connecting our community with the invaluable resources we all need to live healthy, safe, and happy lives.
